On Thursday, July 30th, at 8:30 pm, the Church of San Zenone in Monticelli Brusati will host a concert exploring the relationship between sacred and secular passions in early 17th-century Italy, with a foray into Purcell’s England across both time and space.

The star of the evening will be Elena Quaglia’s harpsichord—an ancient and extremely rare instrument—accompanied by Giorgio Guindani’s baroque voice. The various forms of love in the 17th century will be portrayed by actress Gabriella Tanfoglio, who will guide the audience in discovering the similarities and differences between religious and secular passion in the 17th century.

Music by Giovanni Legrenzi, Claudio Monteverdi, Henry Purcell, and other 17th-century Italian composers.

Free admission.
