Terra della Franciacorta was founded on the shared desire of the municipalities of Franciacorta to promote a unique region, renowned worldwide for the quality of its landscapes, its produce and its lifestyle.
The initiative began in 2011, when the municipalities of Franciacorta presented a feasibility study identifying culture, the environment and local identity as the foundations for sustainable and long-lasting development. A shared vision that looks to the future, able to connect Franciacorta with other regions both nationally and internationally.

In 2012, the 19 municipalities of Franciacorta brought this vision to life through a partnership agreement, establishing for the first time a shared territorial boundary and a unified body of representation. This historic step marked their commitment to building the future of Franciacorta together, while respecting its roots and identity.
PTRA
Piano Territoriale Regionale d’Area
This process gave rise to the PTRA – the Piano Territoriale Regionale d’Area della Franciacorta– which was approved by the Lombardy Region in 2017 with a clear objective: to bring the quality of the region and the way of life of its inhabitants up to the same level of excellence as the world-renowned Franciacorta brand. The Plan promotes development that is mindful of the landscape, the regeneration of places, sustainable mobility and the competitiveness of the region, placing the quality of the experience of those who live in and visit Franciacorta at the heart of its approach.
This process gave rise to the PTRA – the Piano Territoriale Regionale d’Area della Franciacorta– which was approved by the Lombardy Region in 2017 with a clear objective: to bring the quality of the region and the way of life of its inhabitants up to the same level of excellence as the world-renowned Franciacorta brand. In 2018, the local councils established the Terra della Franciacorta Association, which today works to promote best practices, enhance the cultural and environmental heritage, and support the harmonious and sustainable development of the region.
Terra della Franciacorta is the place where institutions, communities and visitors come together to discover, experience and preserve the authenticity of Franciacorta.
